Homegoing services for Mother Charlie Mae Mathis of Tampa who passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, will be held on Saturday, December 13th, 10:00 a.m. at 34th Street Church of God, 3000 N. 34th Street, Rev. Dr. Thomas Scott, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mother Charlie Mae Mathis was born October 29, in Tampa, FL. She was born to the late Charlie and Ella Best who preceded her in death. She attended public schools in Hillsborough County. Mother Mathis was a faithful and diligent member of 34th Street Church of God for over 67 years; were she served as the Church Financial Secretary, Usher Board, Kitchen Committee, Guiding Light Ministry, Trustee Board, Choir, SHARE Ministry and Mother Board. Mother was truly the glue that held our family together. She remained selfless even to her last moments allowing us the opportunity to adjust to the fact that she would no longer be with us. When God plucked her from His garden He knew He was truly taking an angel back with Him. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
