Charlotte Evelyn
Mcburney
December 4, 1925 – November 6, 2010
Homegoing services for Mrs. Charlotte Evelyn (Burwell) McBurney, of 3615 Lindell Avenue, Tampa, Florida who passed away, Saturday, November 6, 2010, will be held Tuesday, November 16th, 10:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, with Pastor Gwynne E. Burt, officiating. Charlotte Evelyn (Burwell) McBurney was born on December 4, 1925 to the late Robert and Georgia Burwell in Hackensack, New Jersey. Educated in the Hackensack Public Schools, upon graduation from Hackensack High School, Charlotte became employed by the federal government and worked at an office in Newark, New Jersey. As time evolved, Charlotte met "Bill" and in 1945 William "Bill" McBurney and Charlotte Evelyn Burwell became husband and wife. As they continued to build their new life together, the two relocated to Tampa, Florida. Continuing to use her organizational skills, Charlotte became employed by the medical records department in a local hospital. Because of her desire to always do better, she attended classes at Mt. Sinai Hospital and as a result came back to her job and rebuilt their medical records department. As Charlotte and Bill continued to build their life together, this union was blessed with two daughters, Eujetta Evelyn and Edwardena. A lover of music, it was never unusual to find Charlotee sitting at a piano playing. She was an amazing musician as she played by ear. If she heard it, she had the ability to play it back but in her own arrangement. Charlotte was the church organist for the New Bethel Baptist Church for many years, but most of her time was spent being a wife, a mother, and working in various hospitals in their medical records department. Predeceased by her mother Georgia, father Robert Sr., siblings Gladys Elizabeth Bunn (William), Bernice Edward Smith (Chester), Robert Jr. (Marie) and Georgia Blanche Burwell. Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters Eujetta and Edwardena; three granddaughters, Christian, Calesian and Chermi; four great-grandchildren, Gina, Glenn, Christina, and James; a sister, Hortense Eulie (Eugene Sr.), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Monday, November 15th, from 4-7 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Chapel on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m.
