A homegoing celebration for Mr. Chris Graves of Tampa, Florida who passed away on February 22, 2019 will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at New Mt. Zion M.B. Church, 2511 E. Columbus Drive, Rev. Larry Roundtree II, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Chris DuBois Graves was born on December 11, 1974 in Tampa, Florida to Marilyn M. Washington and the late Irvin B. Graves. He was the only child born to this union.Chris grew up in Tampa, Florida reared in a Christian family. He attended New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. On September 25, 2016, Chris and his wife, Mikisha were rededicated. Chris was a faithful member. He served on the usher board and security. Chris completed elementary, Junior high, and Senior High school education in the Hillsborough County Public School System; graduating from King High School in June of 1993.On June 26, 2004, Chris married Mikisha K. Walker, and this union was blessed with his daughter, Jocelyn Graves and her son, Andre Bradley. On February 22, 2019 Chris departed this life to awaken in the presence of Our Savior.He was preceded in death by: his father, Irvin Boyd Graves; great grandparents; grandmothers; grandparents, Clymogline Fox-Washington, Henry T. Graves, and Margaret Sullivan Graves. Precious memories will be forever cherished by: his wife, Mikisha Graves; two children, Jocelyn Graves and Andre Bradley; four grandchildren, Kaleb Barnum, Andre Bradley, Jr., London Bradley, and Aston Bradley; mother: Marilyn Washington; grandfather, Booker T. Washington; aunts, Gloria (Johnny) Walden, CaSandra Washington,Annie (Beresford) Smith, Angela (James Sr.) Dickerson, Alicia Graves Perry and Annette Howard;uncles, Booker T. (Chathay) Washington, Jr., Rodrick Washington,Anton (Julie) Graves, Adrian Graves, and Aaron Graves; beloved special family, Sullivan's family,Vincent Samuel, and Too Smooth; god-children, Dominic Kennedy, Marquis Thornton, and MiRya Lopez; god-parents, Rev. Dr. George (Lo) Berry and Annette Howard; god-brothers, Aaron (Tiffany) Berry and Andre Howard; brothers-in-law, Otha (Quarqusia) Gainey, Antonio Martin, and Antoine (Kastevia) Martin, sister-in-law, Grenaisha Baker; devoted-in- laws: Martin, Madison, Weston, Washington, Dickerson-Poole, McMillian, Burroughs, Reynolds, Sallins, Beveritt, Barner, Carroll, Glass and Stevens families; mother-in-law, Betty Martin; father-in-law, Anndra Martin; family pet, Momo Chanel Graves and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends; work family, Fiesta Solutions Party Rental. The visitation will be held at New Mt. Zion M.B. Church on Friday, March 1st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
