A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Clarence Malphus of Tampa, Florida who passed away, Friday, June 28, 2019, will be held Saturday, July 6th, 2:00 p.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, Rev. Dr. Glenn B. Dames, Jr., pastor presiding with Rev. Dr. Shafter Scott of St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church of Plant City, officiating. Clarence was born December 25, 1941 in Tampa, Florida to the late Willie Malphus, Jr. and Evangeline Welch Malphus. He was a native of Tampa. He attended Blake High School, class of 1960. He continued his education and graduated from Gibbs Jr. College. In 2007, he retired from S.E. Johnson Construction as a Project Manager in Toledo, Ohio. He was an avid sports fan and basketball and football were his two favorite sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Malphus Jr. and Evangeline Malphus; sister Ernestine Thomas, brothers; Curtis Malphus, Calvin Malphus, Lawrence Malphus Sr. and Bernard Malphus; brother-in-law, Samuel Booker. He leaves to cherish his memory a caring and devoted companion, Gloria Love; sister, Elizabeth Booker Dallas, TX; brothers, Wilbert Malphus, Sr. (Patricia), and Milton Malphus; aunt, Pearl Hargrove; nieces; Rita Parson (Kenneth) Arlington, TX, Hope Brown Columbia, SC, Rochelle Small Columbia, SC, LaVonne Nelson (Twain), Sabrina Malphus, Victoria Malphus, Patrice Weatherspoon (James) Columbus, OH, Normetha Malphus; nephews, Vesco 'Russell' Bradley (Denita), Baltimore, MD, Kent Brown, Columbia, SC, Stephan Booker (Deborah) Grand Prairie, TX, Wilbert Malphus, Jr., Ali Malphus and Lawrence Malphus Jr.; devoted cousin, Wilma Randall (David); and a host of grand-nieces and grand-nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and devoted friends. The visitation will be held Friday, July 5th at Aikens Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
