Clyde D.
Thompson
February 5, 1944 – April 7, 2025
Clyde was born on February 5, 1944, to the late Wallace and Venzuela Thompson. He lived a life rooted in faith, service, and joy. Known amongst his family for his sense of humor, he brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. His passion for travel took him to many places, but his heart always remained grounded in his love for God and the community. Rev. Thompson dedicated over three decades of his life to ministry as the Pastor of Greater Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. For 32 years, he faithfully led the congregation with devotion and spiritual guidance until his retirement in February 2025. His commitment to sharing the word of God touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy within the church and beyond. Outside the pulpit, Rev. Clyde found great joy in sports—particularly softball and baseball—which reflected his energetic spirit and love for fellowship. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wayne Thompson; granddaughter, Jazmine Thompson; and 11 siblings, eight brothers and three sisters. He leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife, Sandra Thompson; children, Vickki Thompson, Carol Warner, Anthony Thompson (Kimberly), and Christoper Thompson (Deja); grandchildren, Dessire Thompson, David Combs (Tequila), Dewayne Combs, Kyra Thompson-Munn (Howard), and Rayna Ellison; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, McKinley Thompson; sisters, Inez Rowe and Susie
Butler (Samuel); and godson, Charles Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
