Homegoing Services for Mr. Colmon Wilson, Jr. of Tampa who transitioned from this life on October 13, 2011 after succumbing to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident on September 2, 2011, will be held on Saturday October 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm at The Word of Grace and Truth Ministries, Tampa, Fl, Dr. Thomas and First Lady Claudia Dozier, pastors. Pastor Robert Fruster of Kingdom Worship Center, officiating. Colmon Jr. was born Oct. 26, 1944 in Miami, Fl, to the late Deacon Colmon Wilson Sr. and Evangelist Jessie Mae Wilson. He attended Middleton High School and was drafted into the Military in 1965. He served in the Republic of Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He was assigned to the 148th Quarter Master Co. for his service to his county, Colmon Jr. received the Good Conduct Medal; The National Defense Service Medal; The Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of The Vietnam Campaign Ribbon W/Device (1960); 2 Overseas Bars; Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. After leaving Active Duty, Colmon Jr. was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in August 1971. After leaving the Military, Colmon Jr. became a truck driver for many years. His hobbies included playing chess, watching sporting events, fishing and singing with his family. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veteran. Colmon Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myra Williamson; brothers, Edward A. and Gerald M. Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memories: longtime caring and devoted Friend Vardrene Lindo, brothers; Larry Wilson and Kevin Wilson (Charlotte) both of Tampa, FL. sisters-in- law; Patricia and Angela Wilson of Tampa; aunts; Loretta Woods, Miami, FL., Vivian Holmes, Apopka, FL., Joyce Hill (Edmund) Tampa, Fl., Dorothy Jean Jones (Johnny) Ft. Myers, Delores Jones, Orlando, FL. and Sandra Bowens, Columbus, GA; uncles; Pastor Marvin Graham (Gloria) Lamont, FL. Joseph Graham, Ft. Myers, FL. and Anthony Graham, Ft Myers, FL; nephews and nieces; Jeffery Hobbs, Janice Lewis (Patrick), Jacquelyn Barnes (Louis), Jerry Williamson (Deneen), Jessie Betts (Terrence) Darrel Allen, Edward Wilson Jr. (Deborah), Sherna Heyward (Richard), Delicia Polite (Gregory), Dionne Sutton (Eric) Alexis Woodall, Janaka Menendez, Meshelle Wilson, Terri Wilson, Taramekia Wilson, Brittany Wilson, Gerald Wilson Jr., Darryl Wilson, Calvin Johnson (Monique), Crystal Wilson, Kierra Wilson, Kevin Wilson Jr. of Tampa and a host of cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. He will also be missed by friends, Betty Holliday, Lindo Family, Brantley Family and the Alls family. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7 p.m. family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday for the service.
