Homegoing celebration for Mr. Columbus Carswell who departed this life on Thursday December 6, 2012 will be held on Friday December 14, 2012 at 12pm at Aikems Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd, Elder Larry Cook, officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Columbus was born in Swainsborough, Ga on February 27, 1930 to the late David and Minner Carswell in Emmanuel County, GA. He received his education in the Georgia school system and at an early age he gave God his hand, he came to Tampa with his parents in the late 1940's. Having worked for many years as a laborer before retiring in the 1980's. 7 or 8 years of his life were spent with his close family and assisted living family. He was preceded in death by parents, six sisters and five brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories, brother, Herbert Carswell of Philadelphia, PA; 20 nephews; 26 nieces; and a host of many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The viewing will be held on Friday, December 14th from 11am to 12pm at Aikens Funeral Home. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Friday for the service.
