Mrs. Cornelia Y. Smith was born on December 31, 1942, in Pulaski, Tenn, where she attended public school in Giles County. Cornelia was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Granna". Cornelia was a longtime faithful member of Tyer Temple United Methodist church until her health declined. A faithful member of the church for 60 years, during that time she served on many different committees. Cornelia was president of the trustee board, president of the United Methodist Woman, chairperson of Trustee Board, Sunday school teacher, delegate to the church Conference, Hospitality Committee and the choir 1 and 2. She retired from the VA after 30 years of employment where she was a Licensed Practical nurse.
Cornelia is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Katherine Young; husband, Freman Smith; son, Mark Eric Smith; brothers, Hardin Young, Leroy Young, Jr., Robert Young and Clyde Young; sisters, Mildred Cross, Sarah Marsh, Nancy Mayberry, Martha Gremillion, Virginia Shannon, Zollie Brown and Georgia Piedro.
She leaves to cherish memories of her with daughters, Gloria Young Herds and Angela Anderson (Tyrone); son, Todd Smith (Gail); grandchildren, Brittany King (Lucious), Brian Thompson, Darrius Smith, Bethany Young, Christian and Joshua Smith; great-grandchildren, Abren Miller, Brinique Cheatham, Bryan Fedrick Jr., Abrielle Miller, Bryson King, Ayden Miller, Addiyson Bulmer, Journi Bulmer, Jace Bulmer, Brailyn Thompson, Brian Thompson Jr. and Brynx Thompson; great great-grandchildren, A'kaylayah Miller, Bryson Fedrick, Yazon Sims, Azaviour King and Camdyn Miller Brinson; sister, Bernice Haynes; brother, Thomas Young (Carmela); special friend, Aileen Dock; caretaker, Keke Shaw. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
