Obituary

Curtis C. Howell was born to KT and Mary Lou Howell, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on March 4, 1939. Curtis went to Howard W. Blake High School and graduated, class of 1958. Immediately after high school, he joined the United States Air Force. In April 1960, he married Hazel Johnson. To that union, eight beautiful children were born. Phyllis, Awanda, Carla, Curtis, Shelton, Kelvin, Lisa, and Alonzo. Curtis drove trucks for a small industrial company for many years. He moved on to JM Tull Metal Company as a truck driver and was later promoted to supervisor. Curtis was a hard worker who wanted something out of life. "Put away for a rainy day" was his motto. Curtis was outgoing and had a lot of friends. In 1983, he remarried Iwillia Jacobs and from that union, Ursula was born. In 1995, Curtis became a widow and raised Ursula as a single dad. At age 57, Curtis retired from J M Tull Metal after 25-plus years. He loved playing golf, watching basketball, football, baseball, tennis, playing cards, family gatherings, and sharing with others how to succeed in life. He and Ursula traveled abroad as he got older. Although he didnt have a church home, he visited his military buddy, Pastor Cornell Upshaw's church on occasion. On October 7, 2023, Mr. Curtis Howell Sr. received his final call home.

He was preceded in death by his wife Iwillia; parents, KT and Mary Lou Howell; brothers, Samuel T. Howell (the late Retta Howell), and Vernon Howell; sister, Mary Henley (Henry).

He leaves to cherish his memory; children, Phyllis, Awanda (Carlos), Curtis, Jr. (Katura), Carla, Shelton, Kelvin, Lisa, Ursula, and Alonzo, Sr. (Evette); sister, Alice Jackson; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially his best friends of 67 years, Wilbert Williams, Agnes Judges, and Pastor Cornell Upshaw.
