Homegoing services for Mr. D. James Starling of Tampa who passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015, will be held Saturday, February 28th, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Friendship M.B. Church, 3325 E. Emma Street, Rev. Madison Murray, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. D. James Starling was born October 05, 1940 in Arlington, Georgia to the late Oscar and Christine Starling. D. James Starling was a member of Greater Friendship M.B. Church. He lived in the same neighborhood for over fifty years and was a good neighbor and friend to all that knew him. D. James had an extensive number of friends that will dearly miss him. He worked in construction for many years and enjoyed working but enjoyed retirement even more. He could always be found on his porch laughing and talking with friends. Mr. Starling was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Christine Starling; siblings, L'Avery, R.C. (Robert), Oscar and Andrew Starling and Ruby Daniels. He leaves to cherish his memories with his children, Dr. Jeffrey Starling (Carla), Kimberly Starling-Lynn and Eric Starling (Chenelle); grandchildren, Sean Jackson, Chenelle Copeland, Jordan Starling, Thomas Copeland II, Camryn Starling, Taylor Sills, Cherelle Plair and Bryce Johnson; great grandchildren, Jarrell, Tyler, Thomas III and Michelle Copeland and Khloe Jackson; brother, Willie C. Starling and sister, Retha Bryant; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, classmates and wonderful friends; His devoted friend and neighbor, Josephine Brady who was instrumental in every way possible assisting with James' well-being. Her efforts will never be forgotten by the family. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 27th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
