A Homegoing Celebration for Mother Daisy Lee (Horton) Copeland of Tampa, Florida who passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019, will be held Saturday, July 13th, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive M.B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco, Rev. Bartholomew Banks, pastor; Rev. Lloyd Black, officiating. Mother Daisy Lee Copeland was born April 24, 1930 in Dawson, GA. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Thomas and Cora Holder; children, Clarence Copeland III, Cora Green and Johnny Horton; grandchildren, Clarence Copeland IV, Ray Copeland, Derrick Leggett, Richard Iverson, and Evangela Copeland. Mother Copeland was the last survivor of 13 siblings. 'Daisy Lee' as she was affectionately called, was employed as domestic engineer for many years. Her life was centered around taking care of her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. She was very well known in the Jackson Heights Community. She was a faithful member of the Bread of Life Family Worship Center, Tampa Florida, under the pastorate of her beloved son, Pastor Ozzie Horton. She leaves to celebrate her life 6 children: Irma Wiggins, Geneva Copeland (Ezra), Shirley Black (Lloyd), Leola Green (John) and Felicia Tolbert (William), all of Tampa; Pastor Ozzie Horton (Cheryl), Ocala, FL; grandchildren: Reggie, Rhonda, Chloe, Lisa, Tyronda (Ernest), Marcus (Ominik), Michael (Kay), Ashaquay, Shonda (Leroy), Missy, Ashley, Jermaine, Tony, Iesha, Twanshaye, Tracy, Carlos, Mario, Lloyd, John, Bridgette, Gino, Antonio, Makita, Joyce, Kim, Dontae and Faye; sister-in-law, Minnie B. Rush; and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and the entire Holder Family; god-daughter, Kristia Aikens; and a host of other loving family, friends and church family. Daisy Lee was the glue that held us together. The wind beneath our wings. This matriarch was a powerful woman and the very soil in which we ALL grew. She will always be worthy of our honor. The rich history of this family will remain centered around YOU. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, July 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service.
