Homegoing Memorial service for Mr. Dametrius Leonard Edwards of Tampa, who passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013, will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 10:00 a.m at The Center For Manifestation, 3102 E. Lake Ave, Apostle Mark T. Jones, pastor, with Rev. Donaldson Edwards, officiating. The inurnment will be held at a later date. Dametrius Leonard (Dean) Edwards was born July 5, 1969 in Tampa, Florida to Cynthia Galloway Felton and the late John Wesley Edwards. He attended Hillsborough County Public Schools and graduated from King High School in 1988. After graduation, he attended college at Tennessee Wesleyan for a short period of time. Upon returning home, he began working for the City of Tampa Aquatics Department in 1989, where he worked as a lifeguard and supervisor for 25 years. Dean loved sports, he played baseball, basketball, football, ran track, swam and participated in Karate, where he earned his third degree black belt. Dean's smile was a big reason people loved being around him. His smile was contagious and it would light up a room. He had a way of making people feel special. He didn't just belong to his family, he belonged to the community. He leaves behind his loving mother, Cynthia Yvonne Felton; three devoted sisters, Cashandra M. Edwards, Nikisha B. Felton and Megan D. Tillman; grandmother, Mamie Atwater; 5 uncles, Vernon Hudson, David (Josie) Galloway, Henry Lee Edwards, Ben Edwards and Donaldson (Barbara) Edwards; 3 aunts, Shelly Galloway, Ceola Batts and Shirley Edwards; 2 step-sons, Steven and Christopher Serrano; 1 son Dametrius Leonard Edwards, Jr.; 2 step-sisters, 2 step-brothers, 1 niece, London Johnson and 2 nephews, Nicholas Hill and Asberry Johnson, Jr., and a host of cousins and friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. The repast will be held immediately following the service.
