Daniel
Fugnole
September 25, 2009 – September 8, 2025
It is with broken hearts, that we must sadly gather due to the sudden devastating loss of our kind, smart, funny, and loving Daniel Fugnole. Daniel left us tragically at the tender age of 15 on September 8, 2025, just 17 days before his 16th birthday. Here is a glimpse of Daniel's short, yet impactful life: Daniel Marly Fugnole was born on September 25, 2009, at Tampa General Hospital to Rose Percell and Bendary Fugnole. From an early age, Daniel was deeply loved by everyone he met. Even as a toddler, his bright spirit and joyful energy touched those around him. At just one year old, Daniel spent his first night with the Wilson family, where he tumbled down the stairs chasing after Kanisha. He came home with bruises, but it never stopped him from running right back behind her, determined and smiling. At the age of two, Daniel's older brothers, O'Bryan and Marlon, came to the United States. He was overjoyed to know he had two big brothers. At night, he would sneak to O'Bryan's bedside to ask for juice while he was sleeping. When Daniel was four, he became a big brother himself when Justin was born. He was the happiest and most protective big brother. Even when others couldn't understand what Justin wanted, Daniel always could. At daycare and later at school, Daniel was Justin's voice and protector. Daniel loved to travel and explore new places. His favorite spots were Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. At six years old, he met Mrs. Evie Larmond. She became like an adopted grandmother to Daniel, welcoming him into her home with warmth, good food, and tutoring.
Daniel was an intelligent, curious, and eager student. He also loved his trip to Jamaica, where he received a warm welcome from family, neighbors, and the church community. When he went to Jamaica, he said his Auntie Patricia made the best sweet and sour chicken ever. Though it was hard for him to leave, he carried that love in his heart, always hoping to return. Later, after moving near USF, Daniel attended Pizzo Elementary. During that time, his mother worked at a hotel in Tampa and met Monica Richards, who instantly loved Daniel as if he were her own. She cared for him and Justin when she couldn't pick them up, and Daniel affectionately called her "Auntie Champion." At the age of nine, Daniel was baptized at The Way Church of Tampa Bay. His faith, kindness, and love for his family continued to grow. After his mother bought her first home in Sun City Center, Daniel attended Cypress Creek Elementary, then Beth Shields Middle School, and later Sumner High School for 9th grade. Daniel was excited to start 10th grade at Morgan High School, though none of us knew it would be his last school. His favorite holiday was Christmas. It didn't matter if the gift was big or small—what mattered was the joy of waking up on Christmas morning with excitement and family around him.
Daniel loved fishing, cooking, and even cleaning—he kept his room and bathroom spotless, thoroughly cleaning as good as his mom. He enjoyed talking with his uncles and aunts, especially Uncle David, who playfully called him "Rufuff," and Auntie Valerie, with whom he shared endless conversations about food and football. One of Daniel's most joyful friendships was with his neighbor, Mr. Patrick Richards, who took him fishing. On his very first trip, Daniel fell into the water, but that didn't stop him from going again. By spring break, Daniel was waiting eagerly at 6 a.m. with his fishing gear. One day, he came home with a bucket full of 33 small fish, while Mr. Patrick had only caught one big one. Daniel's laughter and pride filled the house that day. His goal was to become a chef, so he enjoyed cooking all that fish for the family. Daniel always thought about his family and would sit for hours imagining ways they could all be together at the same time. His final Sunday with the family was spent in the kitchen, full of laughter and love. He teased Marlon about "letting the word marinate" and joked with O'Bryan about cinnamon rolls, filling the house with humor and references too food, of course. Daniel's love, laughter, and light remain with us. He was a son, a brother, and a friend who gave his whole heart to everyone he knew.
He will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Rose Percell; father, Bendary Fugnole; grandmother, Norma "Shirley" Stewart; brothers, O'Bryan Campbell, Marlon Creary, Justin Spears, Jordan Fugnole, Christopher Fugnole, and Michael Fugnole; sisters, Bendria Fugnole, China Fugnole, Jade Fugnole, Elizabeth Fugnole, and Diana Demosthene; and a host of family and friends.
