Homegoing services for Mr. Darrell S. Doby, Sr., "Smooth" of 8112 Moccasin Trail Dr., who passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009, will be held Saturday, December 19th, 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church of Progress Village, 8616 Progress Blvd., Dr. Samuel Maxwell, Sr., pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Doby was born November 9, 1959 in Tampa, Florida. He attended the schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Robinson High School, class of 1977. He was also a graduate of Roffler Barber School, class of 1991. He was a barber in the Tampa Community. Darrell was a longtime dedicated Coach for Progress Village Panthers, Youth football and cheerleading, Pee Wee, Division. His favorite football team was the Indianapolis Colts. Darrell was baptized at an early age at St. Luke A.M.E. Church. He leaves to cherish the memory of his life: a loving and devoted wife, Daralyn, children, Darrell, Jr., Derron, Talisha and Vermont Doby; grandchildren, Tashana, Brianna, La'Shai, Maurice, Qwa'zina and Elesha Doby; parents, Pierce Dennis and Eve Cherri Doby; brothers and sisters, Chandra Doby-Keitt (Ivan), Kerry Doby, Alvin Doby (Kimberly), Ava Doby and Piercesene Doby; mother-in-law, Julia Timmons; brothers and sisters -in-law, Donna Sanders (Kwabene) Dinizulu, Tyrone (Twilla) Timmons, Willie (Tammy) Timmons, Ozzie (Kimberly) Timmons,; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; best friend, Charlie Jones; and other sorrowing relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aiken Funeral Home on Friday, December 18th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
