Darrell "G-Unit" Eugene Gilbert was born August 29, 1973, in Tampa, Florida to Willie B. Gilbert and the late Barbara J. Williams. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara J. Williams; grandparents, James Williams (Clovie) and Charles Gilbert (Louise) and aunt, Pearline Williams.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his father, Willie B. Gilbert; brother, Lucius Reese; sisters, Regina Baggett of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Young Carter Williams; aunts, Gertrude Sims of Marianna, Florida, Lucille Gilbert and Vera James of Queens, New York; uncles, Charles Williams, Sr. and Charles B. Gilbert, Jr.; nieces, Marion Quaterman, Tyannah Baggett of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dasani Jones and AnBrasia Hall; nephews, Marlon Reesem Tevin Fields, Mahlek Moody and Jaquez Williams; a special thanks to, Andre Flager, Bird, Fatman, Barber Gee, Cooley "Cool dude", Mike E, Antwan Haynes, Barber Gaby, Byron Pringle (NFL player), Gary Graham, Boobie, Luck, James Jones, Bryan "Zoe", Cam G, Marquis Baker "CPA", Rico (7th grove), Bolo, Markell Lofton, Chris Keese, Will, Slick "Javon", Ryan Steed (NFL player), Julio Reyes (co-worker), Jody, Chris Gillet (co-worker), Ray Hemmingway, Philip, Singh, Shag, Chris "C4" and Martin Ruiz.
