A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Darryl Torres Cummings, Sr. 'Sarge' of Tampa, Florida passed away, Sunday June 7, 2020, will be held Saturday, June 20th, 2:00 p.m., Pentecostal Church of God of Jesus Christ, Inc. 4705 N. 26th Street, Pastor Cherrie Green; Rev. Ronnie Murray, pastor of New Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Darryl was born November 24, 1959 in Tampa, Florida to the late Jimmy Cummings and Lola Mae Diggs Torres; he was the youngest of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Anesha N. Cummings and Carlos R. Cummings; brother, Richard Deloach; sister, Maybel Cotton; aunt, Eva Hasty; uncles, Cleveland, Clarence and Rufus Diggs; niece and nephew, Lacey Coleman and John Threat; father-in-law, Melvin Norton, Sr.; mother-in-law, Vivian Guzman Norton; sister-in-law, Vivian Norton Smith and grandparents, Walter and Hattie Diggs. Darryl accepted Christ and was a faithful member of New Greater Friendship M.B. Church until his health declined. Darryl was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating 1977 from Chamberlain High School. He attended Hillsborough Community College for a year and later went to trade school for assembly and repair. On August 24, 1983 he was united in holy matrimony to Andrea Letitia Norton. To their union they were blessed with 5 children. Darryl was technician for DLT Office Furniture Company and later employed with Rooms To Go furniture company until he had entrepreneurial ambitions. Darryl owned his Landscaping Lawn Service, equipment and repair. Darryl was an avid basketball player and in his spare time he enjoyed watching WWE with his grandson, Tarus. He also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish fond memories with his loving and devoted wife, Andrea Norton Cummings; son, Darryl Cummings, Jr.; daughters, Evita Cummings Mitchell and Kalvina N. Cummings; grandchildren, Tarus and Kharisma Mitchell and baby Sy'Eir Somers; sisters, Janie Smith (Lorenzo), Velma Deloach and Maxine Riley; aunts, Mamie Lois Barker (Bob) and Lorene Walker; uncles, Arthur Diggs (Joan) and Eddie Diggs; nieces, Sharon Addison (Aaron), Sonia Clark (Oliver) and Tarsha Tucker; nephews, James Brooks, Eric Timmons, Michael, Marcos and Chauncey Riley, Gregory Cotton and Calvin McCarthan; aunts-in-law, Rena Guzman and Margaret Woodie Guzman; uncle-in-law, Costello Guzman; special cousins, Joan Williams (Mark), Ruth Diggins (Eddie), Diane Diggs and Arthur Diggs; 3 brothers-in-law, Melvin Norton, Jr., (Candi), Henry Norton, Sr. (Traci) and Carl Norton, Sr.; former son-in-law, Tarus Mitchell, Sr.; friends, Grady Ferrell, Thomas Murdock, Weldon Buie, Willie Starling, Brian Pittman and Willie Brannon; a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss him including the Diggs, Norton Sessler and Guzman families, friends from Central Park, Goose Harlem, 36th Street neighbors and Ruby Diggs and family. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, June 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends during the visitation hours from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. The CDC guidelines are being followed.
