Obituary

A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. David Charles Brown of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 11:00 a.m. at Word of His Grace and Truth Ministries, 3001 E. Hanna Ave., Pastor Thomas L. Dozier, officiating.

Mr. David Charles Brown was born June 25, 1941 in Hawkinsville Georgia to Ed Coney and Rosa Talton Brown. He was educated in Lax, Georgia. After moving to Tampa, Florida he completed his high school education. He attended (HCC) Hillsborough Community College and graduated with an AA in business administration and a minor in accounting. He was employed at Dixie Linen and later at Tampa General Hospital where he became department head of textile linen service for 30 years. He served as president of Textile services. He was the gospel announcer for WTMP for 17 years. And one of Tampa Greatest Gospel announcers. He will be remembered as the voice of the bay. He was also a member of the Legends of Tampa Bay. David was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ed Coney and Rosa Talton Brown; five brothers, Fred, Jim, Thomas, Mansfield and John Brown; step-son, Jonathan Fountain; son-in-law, Willie Robinson.

He leaves a loving and devote wife, Barbara Fountain-Brown; daughters, Carol and Sheryl Brown; grandson, Quinton Brown; godson, Alonzo Barnes and wife; two stepsons, Johnny Foster, Steven (Cathy) Fountain; three step-daughters, Diana Moore, Alfreida (Earnest Tarpley), Makesha Robinson (Ben Gordon), all of Tampa, Florida; twelve step-grandchildren; fourteen, step great-grandchildren; one sister, Aline Wynn of Tampa, Florida; sisters-in-law, Margaret Brown Tampa, Florida and Gloria Brown Humbo, Tennessee; two brothers-in-laws, Jessie (Enola) Bourroughs, Atlanta Georgia and Eugene Everett (Kim); one aunt, Mercedes Hicks Ft. Valley Georgia; uncles, Art Talton and wife, of Baton Rouge Louisiana; Frank Talton Ft. Valley, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews of Augusta and Atlanta Georgia, Tampa Florida, Humbo, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Florida, Daytona Beach and North Carolina; a host of cousins of Louisville, Kentucky, Tifton, Georgia, Ocilla, Georgia and Ft. Valley, Georgia; devoted friends, Robert and Jeanette Balkman, Nellie Chaney and family, Linda Maddox and family, Wayne Hunter and wife, Elder Robert (Mary) Davis and John Farron. Mitch, Michelle and his entire staff at TGH Textile; devoted neighbors and friends; special thanks to Moffitt Cancer Center, Life path Hospice Indigo Team, Lady Claudia Dozier and Dr. Thomas L. Dozier and The Word of Grace and Truth Church Pastor Joseph Sykes Dr. Theresa Lewis, Billy Wheeler, Vern Garrett, Rev. Denver and Stephanie Mullings. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 16th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
