Obituary

Homegoing services for Mr. David Monroe Wright, Sr. of 3506 E. 38th Street, who passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, will be held Saturday, August 22nd, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace, Pastor Jeff Williams, officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. David Monroe Wright, Sr., was born to Sara Wright and Elijah McCullough on May 18, 1957 in Waynesboro, GA. The family relocated to Tampa, Florida in 1965, where David became affectionately known as "Cigar". He was educated in Hillsborough County School System, graduating from Robinson High School, class of 1976. David worked for Allied Van Lines for many years before he became a member of Ironworker's Union 397, where he remained until his passing. He was a devoted father and a loyal son, who along with his sister became a caretaker for his mother. David will be most remembered for his beautiful smile and quiet demeanor. His legacy is in the faces of his children and grandchildren. He devotedly attended First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace and Central Tampa Baptist. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. We Celebrate his life's journey and thank God for having shared a small part of it. He went home to meet with his sister, Theresa Wright and his stepfather, Johnny Luke to prepare a place for those left behind to cherish his memory: son, David Wright, Jr.; daughter, Danielle Wright and her mother, Deborah Wright, all of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, David Wright, III and Daniel Wright, both of Tampa; mother, Sara Wright, Tampa; brother, Bobby Wright, Tampa; sisters, Carolyn Terry, Linda Wright and Sharon Wright, all of Tampa; stepbrothers and sisters, Glen Dukes, Michael Luke and Sharon Robinson, Augusta, GA; Johnny Robinson, Ricky Robinson, Lonnie Brown and Teresa Bynes of Waynesboro, GA and Brenda Gregory of Atlanta, GA and Gary Brown of Richmond, VA; uncle, Clarence Young of Vero Beach, FL; aunts, Blanche Hadley, Sarah Atkinson and Rose Brooks (Leslie), all of Tampa; nephews, Johnny Gay (Tenise), Rico Simmons, Artice Pride, Gustavo Wright, Charles Wright, Aqkino Wright, Darrin Williams, Rashard Edwards, Willie Mitchell, Jr. and James Huff, Jr., all of Tampa; nieces, Carla Edwards, Gerita Burgess, Satura Wright and Ciesha Solomon, all of Tampa; other relatives and special friends to include, Tonya Rich, Maurice Johnson, Greg Jack, Tiffany Ladsen, Antonio Belcher and Delores Russ Parker, and Oscar Wilson; the Hunter, Johnson, Patterson, Miller and Smith families and all of Central Park Village families. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service.
