Dax, affectionately nicknamed, "Boo", was born on March 17, 1972, in Tampa, Florida, to Willie Gene Kirkland and Mamie Williams. He was a native of the Tampa Bay area all his life and attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He enjoyed working as an events coordinator at the University of Tampa and was an avid fisherman for many years. He was the middle child of three and a wonderful son, and a devoted father to his three sons and loved his big brother, Kevin, and little sister, Krystal.

He was caring and thoughtful of others before himself and was known to be a jokester among his family and friends. He was a football fanatic and a die-hard Pittsburg Steelers football fan, that he enjoyed since a young boy. He also enjoyed traveling and in his most recent years, he was able to sight see our nation of US monuments, traveling coast to coast with his fiance Shameka Thomas, in which they enjoyed special moments together. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Williams; pops, Clarence James Williams; uncle, Larry Kirkland; aunts, Geraldene Kirkland, Irene Kirkland, and Willene Kirkland.

He leaves to cherish his life and fond memories with his biological father, Willie Gene Kirkland; brother, Kevin G. Williams (Rita); sister, Krystal D. Williams; sons, Jordan Riley, Dax Kirkland, Jr., Kevin Kirkland; finacee, Shameka Thomas; uncles, Ricky Kirkland, Bobby Kirkland; aunts, Mary Ann Gills, Pearlene Waters (Albert); cousins, Gala Sapp, Harvetta Jackson, Shandra Kirkland, Charlotte Brown, Fred and Bill Gilchrist, Bonnie Burden; nephews, Devyn J. Williams, Cameron Crowder (Kiarra), Derrick McKeller, Jr.; nieces, Brianna Z. Williams, Shante Williams; lifelong friend, Keith Chaptman; and a host of other sorrowing family members and special friends.
