Obituary

Deacon Ozel Chisholm was born in Blitchton, Florida on April 7, 1930, to the late Albert, Sr. and Vernell Chisholm.

Deacon Chisholm attended Howard Academy in Ocala, FL in 1950 and finished night school at Middleton Adult School in Tampa, FL, graduating in 1966. He worked as a janitor for Pelican Restaurant and was later employed as a truck driver by H. P. Hood, Inc. and Coca Cola Foods. After 26-1/2 years of perfect attendance, he retired from Coca Cola Foods.

A highly driven and energetic soul, Deacon Chisholm loved to work. He owned & operated a lawn service in addition to a full-time job for many years. His favorite pastimes were gardening, mentoring children & teens and traveling.

Deacon Chisholm loved the Lord with all his heart and accepted Christ as his personal savior at a very early age. He was baptized at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Ocala, FL. His servanthood and spiritual development were extended throughout his life as a Junior Deacon, Deacon, Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Teacher, Youth Director, Male Chorus organizer and participant, Founder and President of the Clearwater City Wide Choirs Union and Mens Ministry Leader for the Bay Central District Association under Reverend Eric Campbell was Moderator. He was ordained as a Deacon at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Clearwater and served as Deacon Ministry Chair at both New First Union Missionary Baptist Church and Gods Side Family Worship Center in Tampa. Deacon Chisholm also had the distinction of serving as the first Black Juror in Clearwater, FL.



With a heart of love, joy, faithfulness, gentleness, peace, the gift of giving, service and exhortation, Deacon Chisholm lived his life walking in the spirit. He supported the down-trodden and was no respecter of people. He prayed mightily for everyone, all the time.

Deacon Chisholm was preceded in death by his parents, Albert, Sr. and Vernell Chisholm; Wives Hazel and Maxine; 10 siblings; Brothers Deacon Albert Chisolm, Jr., Rev. Ezekiel Chisholm, Rev. Jordan Chisholm, Willie Chisholm and Marvin Chisholm; Sisters Louise Thomas, Cathelia Williams, Ida Mae Wiley, Inez Hayes, Marie Parnell and grandson, Charles Scrivens.

Left to cherish beautiful and fond memories are his loving and devoted Wife, Arlena; Sons Ozel Chisholm, Jr. (Annette), Livingston Curtis Chisholm, Xxavier Chisholm (Rewa), Zdany Chisholm (Markeisha) and LeTroy Carter (Gissell); Daughters Vernon Benedict (Gregory), Antoinette Scrivens (Charles), Tamika Barber (Robert) and Katrina Osborne (Danny); Brothers Van Chisholm (Peggy) and Walter Chisholm (Joyce); Grandchildren Christopher Williamson, Kimberly Otis, Sherie Otis, Jermaine Chisholm, Portia Chisholm, Garret Ozel Chisholm, Travis Wey, Stephanie Brister, Shellena Kirby, Trevor Scrivens, Alissa Hinson, Derrick Welcher, Laron Landry, Phylea M. Bennett, Mark Anthony Glenn, Carter Osborne, Chandler Osborne and Zaryah Chisholm; God Sons Tramayne Danyelle Jackson and Eric Campbell, Jr. He also leaves a host of great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
