Deacon Alvin Milton Haggins, Sr. was born March 4, 1959, in Tampa, Florida to the late Coleman and Helen Haggins. Also born to this union were Ronald Winkfield (deceased), Coleman Haggins, Jr. (deceased), Sylvia Haggins and Valerie Yvette Haggins (deceased). Alvin attended Hillsborough County Schools, graduating in 1976 from East Bay High School. Alvin was employed at Winn-Dixie Warehouse for over 20 years, Johnson Brothers Liquor Company for over 10 years and recently with Coca-Cola Florida Warehouse for the past 9 years. Alvin was a dedicated, loyal and respected employee. Alvin met and married the love of his life, Yvonne Johnson Haggins. They were joined in holy matrimony on October 10, 1981. God blessed their union with two sons, Alvin M. Haggins, Jr. (AJ) and Alex M. Haggins.
Alvin accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Northside M.B. Church many years ago alongside his wife, Yvonne, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Jacob Jordan, Sr. (deceased), Rev. Ricardo Robinson, Sr. (deceased) and presently, Rev. Leonard Harrington. Alvin received his Deacon Certificate of Ordination in July 2012 under the leadership of Rev. Robinson and Deacon Felix Kelly, Chairman of the Deacon Board. Alvin served faithfully, embracing his role as a servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Deacon Haggins loved to sing and pray, ushering in the Holy Spirit on Sunday mornings alongside his fellow Deacons. Deacon Haggins was a true fisherman. He loved to go freshwater fishing, but most importantly, he was a fisher of men as well. Alvin always shared his faith with his neighbors, co-workers and friends. He spoke about the goodness of Jesus Christ and encouraged them all in the love of Christ and of His promise found in Hebrews 13:5 "God said He will never leave you nor forsake".
Alvin leaves to rejoice his homegoing, a loving wife of 45 years, Yvonne Haggins, 2 loving sons, Alvin Haggins, Jr. (Ashley) and Alex Haggins (US Army, Ft.
