Obituary

Deaconess Ruth Lewis was a faithful and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was one of two daughters born on May 17, 1935 to the late Ezekiel and Evelyn Glover. She attended the schools of Dooly County and Hillsborough County. She worked for the Sheraton Hotel, Singleton Seafood Company, and James A. Haley VA Hospital where she retired after 12 years of service. Deaconess Lewis was a woman of love and grace who always gave of her time, talents, and was a devoted wife to the late Deacon Melvin Lewis. Deaconess Lewis loved the Lord and became a faithful and full-time church worker and volunteer. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, the Health Care Ministry, Senior Women Mission, Keenagers, Pastor's Aide board, and Choir #2.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Melvin Lewis; son, Rev. Anthony Lewis; and brother, James Kenricks.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: children, Edith Harris, Charles Bryan (Katie), Juanita Walker (Rudolph), Jerry Lewis, Alden Lewis (Janice), Patricia M. Jones (Charles), Danny Lewis (Tiffany), and Dennis Lewis; daughter-in-law, Bernice Lewis; sister, Rae Inez Sanders (Miami); grandchildren, Lynette Lewis, Carles and Liza, Karlis and Brendan, Kia, Earvin, Khayree, Eboni, Raynard, Rashard, Narada, Nicklynn, Ezekiel, Alden, Donnell, Carlos, Kenya, Rudolph, Tyriq, Taylor, Tanisha, Trinity, Shameka, Shaneka, Daniel, Jr., Carles, Jr., Maxwell, Miles, Tanisha, Jesse, and Nickie; as well as 50 great-grandchildren; 10 fourth generation grandchildren; and 9 fifth generation grandchildren.
