A Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Debra Elaine Cason of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday October 9, 2019 will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Lance Stephens, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Debra Elaine Cason was born in Tampa, Florida on November 20, 1951 to the late Frank and Altamease Cason. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Cason. Debra graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1969 and went on to attend Florida A & M University. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology in June 1973. Debra was briefly employed with Tampa Housing as a housing inspector and a certified substitute teacher in Hillsborough County. In addition, she was employed as an insurance adjuster and manager in Broward County prior to becoming ill. Debra was an active volunteer with Life Link Foundation and inspired others to become organ donors. Debra became a kidney transplant recipient in March 2016. Debra loved baking and preparing healthy dishes. She also was a music lover of all genres. Debra is survived by her sons, Malik Mallory of Marietta, Georgia and Abdul Edmond of Tampa, Florida; sisters, Valarie Salves (William) and Karon Davis of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; nieces, Pamela Vance (Idi) and Syree Dunton of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, nephews, Kelvin Barnes (Kiva) of Atlanta, Georgia, Devin Davis (Felicia) of Pompano, Florida and Steven Perry of Dover, Delware; a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; close friends, R. Carol Clark, Minister A. Faye Wingo and Evelyn Colon all of Tampa, Florida, Kimberly Dublin of Sunrise, Florida and Ann Deveaux of West Palm Beach, Florida. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
