Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Delia Rush, 89, of Tampa, who passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011, will be held on Friday, May 27th, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1747 W. LaSalle Street, Rev. Gregory Gay, Sr., pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Delia Rush was a Veteran of the United States Army and one of the first black nurses sent out in WWII. Delia was a devoted Christian. She was also a devoted and loving wife to Rollen Rush for many years until he preceded her in death in June of 1998. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Rachel Washington and Verley Cooper. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memories her only son, Reshea B. Smith and wife, Bobbie Smith; grandchildren, Reshea Rollen Smith, Brandee Della Smith, Parkish Joel Neal, Zelma Williams, Thelma Williams, Tony Jackson, Reshea B. Green, Zavier Anderson, Keshia Anderson and Otis Green and her many great grandchildren. We love her and will miss her. She will always be in our hearts. The viewing was held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26th evening from 4-7 p.m. Family received friends from 6-7 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. on Friday for the service.
