Obituary

Delphine Bell Collins was born in Blackshear, Georgia on April 14, 1942, to the late James B. Bell Sr., and the late Mattie D. Bell Davis. She relocated to Tampa in 1954 to live with her father. She attended the local schools in Tampa, graduating from Middleton Sr. High School, class of 1962. While attending Middleton High School, she met her future husband, Melvin L. Collins, while in the marching band. Delphine and Melvin were united in holy matrimony in September of 1964, at New Hope M.B. Church, where she became a member. Delphine was an employee of several department stores which includes Sears, and Belka and she retired from Dillards. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for her loving husband. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to numerous VFW events. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 10140, of which her husband, Melvin was the commander.

In accordance with Gods will, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Delphine Bell Collins earthly journey came to an end. Delphine has reunited in heaven with her parents, James and Mattie Bell; brothers, James Bell, Jr., and Andrew Davis; sisters, Esteray Dennis, Barbara Freeman, Diana Davis and Mattie Evon Dennis; mother and father-in-law, Rosalie and John Collins; sister-in-law, Geraldine Collins Mungin and brothers-in-law, Johnny and Charles Collins.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by he devoted and loving husband, Melvin L. Collins; sisters, Estrella Bell Lockette, Teresa Bell Rodwell of Miami, FL., and Billie Bell of Rochester, NY; brother Howard Lee Davis and (Crystal) of Leesburg, FL; sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Gipson and brother-in-law, Huey Mungin of Tampa, FL.; loving and devoted nieces and nephews, Yolonda Bell Davison (Roosevelt) of Tampa FL, Tonya Rodwell of Miami, FL, Debra Nichols of Rochester NY, Bridget Lee of Atlanta, GA, Tahia ONeal and Ashley Davis of Eustis, FL, Kimberly Smith, Shante Freeman, Toneshia Jones, LaKenya Jackson, and LaTasha Jackson, all of Mount Dora, FL., Yolonda Collins of Washington, DC, Linda Mungin, Joyce Ann Polite and Pamela Wilson Carruthers, all of Tampa, FL, Rosalie Garrett and Charlie Mae Collins of Jacksonville, FL.
