Obituary

Denzil Thompson Wright funeral service will be held Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 12:00 p.m., Town & Country Seventh Day Adventist, 4926 Webb Road. Denzil was born March 27, 1934 to the late Agatha Fearon and Simeon Wright of Keyes, Clarendon, Jamaica, and West Indies and later relocated to in Birds Hill, Clarendon, Jamaica West Indies. Denzil was a very hard working person. He travelled many times to the United States of America, under the Farm Working Contract, this began in 1952. After spending six months in Bell Glades, Florida, he returned to Jamaica, where he met the love of his life, the late Lucille Angella Wright, to whom he later married. In 1960, Denzil received his permanent residency in the United States of America; lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was later joined by his wife and family. He worked for the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts as a custodian from 1972-1975. He then worked at Uniroyal Tires in Springfield for a short time and other odd jobs before starting a new job at the Electric Boat Company. His dedicated and hard work earned him many coveted awards. Denzil was a God-fearing person, although his parents were not Seventh Day Adventist, they allowed him to go to the Seventh Day Adventist Church with neighbors. At the age of twelve (12) he was baptized into the fellowship of the Birds Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church family. Denzil's membership was then transferred to the Springfield Seventh Day Adventist Church in Massachusetts, where he served as Deacon, Elder and as an Usher. He was always eager to do anything for the Lord. In 1998, Denzil and his wife left Massachusetts for Florida and lived in the Tampa Bay area. He was a member of the Town and Country Seventh Day Adventist Church and immediately became a very active member. Denzil loved music, but he especially loved his Harmonica. He went nowhere without it and could play any song with precision as he rocked his body to the songs he played. Everyone that heard him play was inspired. He also loved a "good" game of dominoes. After a long battle with illness, he knew that it would not be long before he would depart this life, but he accepted. He knew there was hope for him when Jesus returns to wake him up and take him home with Him. Denzil departed this life peacefully on February 10, 2012. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Beverly Newman and Ronald, two grandsons, Olan and Dwaine Newman and one granddaughter, Kayla Newman and two great grandchildren, Alivia Jones and Olan Newman, Jr., all of Massachusetts; two brothers, Joshia and George Wright and their families of England; three sisters, Hermine Wright, Jamaica, Daphane Wright, Miami and Shirley Wright, Canada; 9 nieces and 13 nephews; cousins, Molly Manradge and family and Theresa Lindo-Hicks and James, all of Tampa, Elizabeth Thompson and Merlene Dyth and family, England, Gloria Nelson and Ralston, Tampa/Jamaica; extended relatives, Pauline Black, Shirley and Geofrey Barnabie, Ft. Lauderdale, Clifton Newell, Tampa, Shermine Cooper, Ft. Lauderdale, Vincent and Edith Lindo and Alfred and Iris Lindo, Jamaica, WI and Winston Simmonds, Canada. His favorite Quartette group members in Jamaica, W.I., Springfield, MA and the Town & Country Seventh Day Adventist Church, he sang with; also all the other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
