Mr. Derick Hicks, aka "Goo" to his family and friends, was born on February 13, 1975 to the
parentage of Michael Hicks, Sr. and Loretta Starks Hicks in Tampa, Florida.

Mr. Hicks was a native Tampan who was educated in the School District of Hillsborough County.
He was a fun-loving, sociable person who loved listening to Old School Soul and Rap Music,
celebrating special occasions, and hanging out with his family, friends and others at his
beloved grandmother Cottie Mae Starks residence in Thonotosassa, Florida. He
loved his four children Dekoda, Xavion, Ronnieshia, and Derick, Jr. very much. They affectionately
called him "Daddy". He also had a special love for his mother Loretta Starks, devoted companion
Devin Mathis, his favorite cousin Rudy Anderson and his best friends/like brothers Roscoe and
Courtney. He loved his family and friends, and they loved him back unconditionally.
From time to time, Derick worked with his uncle Ricky in his lawn care service business At an
early age, he was baptized and became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in
Thonotosassa. He loved and believed in God.

Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents- Ray Starks and Cottie Mae
Starks, paternal grandparents Broadus Hicks and Gloria Hicks; Great grandmother- Susie Hicks;
Brother- Gabriel Stevenson; Sister- Cynthia Michelle Hicks; Uncle-Johnny Lee Starks; Aunts-
Betty Jean Starks Reynolds, Carolyn Ray Starks, Alecia Starks Jackson, and Tonya Starks; Great
Aunts- Luvenia Stewart Alexander, Lillie Mae Stewart Black and Isabel Stewart Larry.

Mr. Derrick Hicks leaves to share precious, fond memories of him with his children, Dakoda
Hicks, Xavion Hicks, Renisha Hicks, and Derick Hicks, Jr.; Granddaughter- Arionna Hicks;
Parents- Michael Hicks, Sr. and Loretta Starks Hicks; A loving and devoted companion Devin
Mathis; Brothers-Michael Hicks, Jr. (Cleshauna), Antonio Hicks (Nicole), Rashad Hicks (Wanda)
and Andre Stevenson (Yolanda); Uncles- Ray Joe Starks (Beverly), Gerald Starks, Sr. (Vida), Ricky
Starks, Dwayne Starks, Brent Starks, and Gregory Hicks; Aunts- Linda Starks Burston, Rena
Starks Anderson, Brenda Starks, Judy Starks Brown (Reginald), Cydreia Starks, Tammy Starks
Timmons, Erica Starks, Deborah McBride, Cathy Hicks, and Janice Williams (John); A host of
nephews, nieces, cousins (Alexander, Larry, Black, and Berry-Stewart families) and friends.
