Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Dolores B. Carter of Tampa who passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012, will be held Saturday, December 22nd, 10:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, Minister Keith Jacobs, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Dolores affectionately called Bea by her family and Nana by her children was a loyal member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, until her health failed. She was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts October 9, 1929 and raised in Marion, Massachusetts. She located to New York City, where she raised her two daughters, Georgette and Rita. Bea married her husband, Charles Carter on September 28, 1951. She was an accountant and enjoyed working for lawyers. She was employed by several companies in her lifetime. Upon retiring she relocated to Tampa in 1993 to live with her daughter, Georgette and son-in-law, Emanuel. The later moved to Brandon, Florida 2 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernadino Barrows and Adelaide DeSouza Barrows, daughter, Rita Cardoza; granddaughters, Edith Barrows and Justina Cardoza; great granddaughter, Jadasia Sanders; great great grandson, Christian Love; nephew, Frank Barrows, Jr. (Skippy); sisters, Dominga Allen and Ann Barrows; brothers, Louis, Frank, Lincoln and Eugene Barrows. She is survived by a loving daughter, Georgette Williams and husband, Emanuel, Brandon, FL; son, Raymond Mendes, Boston, MA; sister, Ester Ceciro, Sonoma, CA; grandchildren, Terrol Sanders, Lake Butler, FL, Jolanda Sanders, Tampa, FL, Mischa Sanders, Plainfield, NJ, Anthony Sanders, Tampa, FL, Jamal Sanders, Palm River, FL, SSG Kariema Depina Washington and husband, SSG Richard Washington, US Army Ft. Meade, MD, David Hunt and wife, Tammy, Tampa, FL, Taavon Jackson, Tampa, FL, Michael Montague, St. Louis, MI and Robert Cardoza; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; cousins, Sally and Earl Seally, Wareham, MA; lifelong friend, Juanita Montague, St. Louis, MI; and a host of other sorrowing nephews, nieces, relatives, extended family members and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 21st, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Red Hatters Purple Passion Divas of Tampa will be in attendance during the first hour of the viewing from 5 to 6 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday for the service at the chapel.
