Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Doris J. Roper Jackson of Tampa, Florida who passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, will be held Saturday, March 29th, 10:00 a.m., Apostolic Church of Jesus, 2708 E. Osborne Av., Elder Samuel Washington with Elder Hunt, officiating. Interment will follow. Doris was born June 26, 1948 in Savannah, Georgia to Ezra Roper and Alice Beckwith Bowers. She loved to read books and going to church. She also enjoyed teaching and talking about the bible. She leaves to cherish her loving memories with children, Michael Levell, James Levell and fiance, Lashawn Floyd and Fayleen Roper and husband, Otis; her parents, James and Alice Bowers; grandchildren, Naya Levell, James E. Levell, Jr. and Jason M. Levell; godchildren, Kenneth and Carletta Lee; brothers, Darryl Bowers, Ronald Hill and James Bowers, Jr. and wife Anissa; sisters, Sandra Cofer, Ethel D. Bowers, Sharon Bowers Bostick, Dyerhonda M. Garrett and husband, Rudy and Joanne Bowers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friend, Irene Levell. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 28th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
