Homegoing Celebration for Prophetess Dorothy Louvenia Brooks of Tampa who passed away, Sunday December 29, 2013, will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at The Center for Manifestation, 3102 E. Lake Av., Apostle Mark T. Jones, pastor with Pastor Alfonzo Broughton, officiating. Dorothy was born in Tampa, Florida on November 20, 1949. She was affectionately known as "Dancing Dot" and a graduate of Middleton High School and Hillsborough Community College. She was a faithful member of Victory Temple Outreach Ministries where her daughter, Pastor Laytecia McKinney, is Pastor. She received the Lord as a child but was born again in 1988 under the leadership of Elder Charlie Westbrooks and later served faithfully for 18 A years at Holy Outreach for Christ under the pastorate of Pastor A.F. Nelson-Vickers. She was called to ministry in 1990 and was the founder of House of Redemption an evangelistic outreach ministry. She completed substance abuse training and taught substance abuse rehabilitation classes once a month. She also had a prison ministry and would travel monthly to Lowell Prison and Hillsborough Correctional to minister as well as Orient Road and Faulkenburg Road County Jail. She also did nursing home ministry and would once a month teach bible study and sing hymns at Fletcher Rehab Center. She had a love and passion for ministry and helping others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Brooks, sisters Blondeva Stevens and Rosa Hytower, grandmother, Louvenia Sapp and grandfathers Lawrence Sapp and Davie White and Uncle, Joseph Clayton. She leaves to cherish her memories, 5 devoted daughters, Evangelist Edwina Dupree (Kelvin), Pastor Laytecia McKinney (Sedrick), Shaneka Wright, (Dishan), Ebony Brooks and Ququani Brooks, (Derrick); 1 loving son, Taurus Brooks; god daughters, Selina Bogan and Tonya Rhoades; stepdaughter, Sonji Clark; 1 sister, Shirley Ann Brooks; 3 brothers, Willie Smalley, Jr. (Yoko), Alaska; Willie Pitts and Leroy Smalley; 12 grandchildren, Asia Brown, Diane Brown, Brittany Collins, Danielar Flowers, Sarah Sumes, Naomi Sumes, TaVe'Yonna Brooks, Teara Brooks, Tmya Brooks, Elijah Conley, Imani Christopher and Serenity Davis; 2 great grandchildren, Dion Jackson and Tavuras Holmes; nieces and nephews, Semond Stevens, Sierra, Craig (Leslie), Blake, Edward, Jr. all of Rochester, NY; Linda Stevens (Paul) Orlando, Kia Knight, Keyonni, Ke-Erica and Kemari Hayes, Freddie Lee Robinson, David Brooks, Kato Hytower, David Caldwell, Darren Gambrell, Atlanta, GA, Justin, Alaska and Clarissa, Alaska, Cusheena, Orlando, and Peter, Orlando; special friend and god sister, Sunday Bivens-Reese; a host of cousins, Dorothy Henry and Julia Davis of St. Petersburg, Brenda Williams & Family, Veronica Brown, Anthony and Denita Lewis, Kennedy family, Eartha Miller, Willie Miller, Jr., (Dawn), Curtis Jean Miller, Houston, TX, Edmund & Joyce Hill, Sapp family, Lett family, Holy Outreach for Christ, Bivens family, Victory Temple family; and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, January 10th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
