Homegoing services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Callahan Hall of Tampa, who passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 11:00 a.m., at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., Tampa, Florida 33605, Rev. Bartholomew Banks, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Dorothy Hall was born in Tampa, Florida on November 19, 1932 to the late Hezekiah Callahan, Sr. and the late Martha Moore Callahan. Dorothy attended the public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from Don Thompson High School,in 1949, where she was a majorette and played on the girl's basketball team. She was a member of St. John Progressive M.B. Church. She worked faithfully at National Linen Service for 42 years until her retirement in 1994. She was a foster grandparent at United Cerebral Palsy of Tampa Bay for 12 years until 2011. Dorothy had a loving spirit and a giving heart. She loved life and enjoyed cooking, watching football and basketball on TV, and entertaining family and friends. She was affectionately called "Dot" and "Grandma Dot". She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Hezekiah Callahan, Jr., grandson, Cedric Eugene Wilson and step-grandchildren, Patricia Johnson and Terry Telfair. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: 4 children, Norma Hall Marshall, Melinda Ann Hall, Olivia Bass Wilson and Albert Bass, Jr. (Loshell); 4 step-children, Willie Clyde Hall (Louise), Temple, TX, Lee Edward Hall, Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Lucille Johnson and Kathy Murillo; 7 grandchildren, Cory Wilson (Candice), Evelyn Hall (Edward), Demetreious Bass (Kaleena), Laquisha Denise Bass, Lashawnda Monique Bass, Laquita Shantel Bass and Tamarick Keyshawn Bass; 7 step-grandchildren, Cheryl Johnson, Michael Telfair, Patrick Jones, Wanda Hall, Temple, TX, Maximo Murillo, Candice Murillo and Kahlil Edwards; 9 great grandchildren, Cris, Keneeya and Cameron Murray, Jasirie Bass, Demecia Mays, Antonia Henderson, Demetreious Bass, Jr., Calleigh Madison Wilson and Antoinella Henderson; 2 step-great grandchildren, Kelmani Murillo and Cahmoni Maxwell; special cousins, Alice Stills (Norris), Lake Alfred, FL, Margie McGriff, Lakeland, FL and Rose Peters; special friends, Rhodina Quick, Mattie McNeal, Mildred Hall, Rudeen Johnson, Barbara West, John Bolds (Paw Paw), Eunive Massey, Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Smith, Dorothy Sneed, Debra Henigan, Brownie Herbin and Butha Trimble; caregiver, Tenisha Kelly; and a host of other devoted family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, Friday, February 28th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive guest from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service at 10:45 a.m.
