A celebration of life for Mrs. Dorothy Davis Danzey, who passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 will be held Saturday, August 20th, 11:00am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1203 North Nebraska Avenue. The funeral mass will be presided by Father Hugh Chikawe. The interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mrs. Dorothy D. Danzey was born March 24, 1935 in Tampa, Florida. Dorothy, affectionately called,' Dot' attended Hillsborough County Schools, graduating from Don Thompson Vocational High School (Howard W. Blake High School) in 1953. After graduation, she married J. Eugene Danzey. She attended Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. Dorothy returned to Tampa, where she taught in Hillsborough County Public Schools for 38 years. Dorothy was a member Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Las Damas Social Club and the Council of Catholic Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Davis and Oliver Broome and a brother, Oliver Broome, Jr. She leaves loving memories with children, Valorie Danzey Garner and Michael Eugene Danzey, sisters, Henrietta Bryant Williams and Carrye Rudd (Alphonso); grandchildren, Von II and Marcel Chaney, Adele Flowers Williams, Michael Danzey II., Clinton and Jazmyne Danzey; great-grandchildren, Tiana and Dorian Henry, Xavier, Malik and Demetrie Chaney, Clinton Danzey, Jr., Mi'Kayla Danzey, Ciarra, Valean, and Marilyn Hawkins; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, god-daughter, Asia Johns and life-long friend, Alice Johns. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
