A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Dorothy Goins of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021, will be held Saturday, October 23rd, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Elder Colette Avant, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Have Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorothy Goins was born on May 31,1943 to the union of the late James and Thelma Minor in Greenville, Florida. Dorothy received her education in the Hillsborough County schools, graduating in 1961 from Middleton Senior High School. She became a devoted wife on June 19, 1961, united in holy matrimony to Charles A. Goins, Sr., in Tampa, Florida. Through that union, they were blessed with two sons, Gregory and Charles Jr. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and was an active participant in church activities including singing in the choir and ushering. She later became a long-time member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa Florida. Full of "Life, Energy and Humor", Dorothy was employed with the Hillsborough County School System for more than thirty-three years. She received several awards for her outstanding performance and dedication. Her forever "fun personality" was infectious to all she came in contact with, whether at work, with family, or friends. In other words, she was known to give or take a joke. After her retirement, she really enjoyed doing fun stuff, always looking forward to the next "sisters trip". Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Thelma Minor; siblings, Willie James, Annie Mae, George, Malachi, Iva, Rosa Lee, and Joe Minor. To forever cherish her memories, Dorothy leaves a loving and dedicated husband, Charles Arey Goins Sr.; two sons, Gregory Cornelius Goins and Charles Arey Goins Jr. (Sharee); grandchildren, Camera E. Goins, Jordan C. Goins, Onnika J. Goins, Taylor M. Wallace, Charles A. Goins III, Gabriel N. Goins, Jasmine Goins, Nijul M. Goins and Justice A.M. Goins; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Thelma Minor Billings (Eddie), Fort Worth Texas and Catherine Minor Harvey (Lee), Riverview Florida; 1 uncle, Willie D. Rayford, Williston Florida; 3 sisters-in-law, Lillie Tombs Minor Tampa Florida, Loretta Gilbert Tampa Florida and James Edna Douglas (Lenton) Tampa Florida; 3 brothers-in-law, George Monroe, Williston Florida, Walter Goins Safety Harbor Florida and Frank Goins, South Bay Florida; a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; neighbors and friends; including a very special friend, Elizabeth Thomas, Tampa Florida.

The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We are following the CDC guidelines.
