A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth SimmonsPruitt of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, will be held Saturday, August 27th, 11:00 a.m. at Rivers of Life Church Ministries, 301 N. Lakewood Dr., Brandon, Florida, Rev. Curtis Swafford, pastor. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Dorothy was born May 1, 1977 in Tampa, Florida. She attended the schools of Hillsborough County. Dorothy was a devoted loving mother and wife, she loved nothing more than spending quality time with her husband and children. She enjoyed shopping with her girls and was an extremely talented hairstylist, a gift that she passed on to her girls. The activities she loved were dancing, decorating, cleaning, and attending family reunions and gatherings, but most of all she loved the Lord and the word of God. She spent countless hours soaking in the bathtub with her bible she called this 'Her quite time with the Lord'. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Simmons; grandmothers, Dorothy Jackson and Evelyn Simmons; great- grandmother, Maeola Wilson; niece, Natalia Leonard; aunt, Annie Mae Simmons and uncle, Ulysses Whitening. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her husband, Perys Pruitt; children, Nadia, McKayla, Brianna, Perys and Nyree Pruitt; grandchild, Haven Logan Patton; mother, Lealer Doe (Andrew); step-mother, Patsy Simmons; grandfather, Kenneth B. Jackson; brothers, Trevor McKenzie (Becky), Michael (Kim) and Kevin (Silla) Gibson; sisters, Yolanda Dixon (Emmitte), Natalie Simmons, Tolana Mathis and Evelyn Simmons (Roger); aunts, Debra Meus and husband, Karen and Dorothea Jackson; great aunt, Elizabeth Mitchell; uncles, Sterling Jackson (Charlotte) and Kenneth Jackson, Reginald, Woody, Calvin and Gregory Whitening; nieces, Tashawna, Adriana, Emoni, Jaila and Jalicia; nephews, Xavier, Frankie, Jaiden, Jailen, Shawn, Ja'Shawn, Ty'Shawn, Delsa and Delvin Jr.; cousins, Shawanda, Sterling, Jr., Antwan, Rico, Cedric, Robert, Redila, Jadila, Sterlin and Kanisha; father-in law and mother-in-law, Roger and Yolanda Collins; brother-in-laws, Karawn Pruitt (Veronica) and Delvin Collins (Erica); sister-in-law; Richelle Collins; special friend, Sandra Green; and host of other family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, August 26th from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
