Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Reed of Tampa who passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011 will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel PMB Church, 3011 E. North Bay Street, Pastor, Reginal T. Webb with Rev. Antonio Hawkins Pastor of Exciting Faith Alive at Mt. Silla Church, officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Reed was born on March 17, 1945 in Rochelle, Georgia. She was the daughter of Rubin Youngblood and the late Annie Youngblood. Mrs. Dorothy Reed was a Tampa native and graduated from King High School. Dorothy was hired as a temporary bus driver for Hillsborough County Public School District. She became a permanent driver in October 1973. Mrs. Reed continued to transport children until she retired in January 1993. After retiring from Hillsborough County, she became a Home Care Provider and worked in that capacity for 18 years. She loved spending time with her family, reading and watching television. On Thursday, October 13, 2011, God gently whispered and called for Dorothy Ruth Reed. She answered. Dorothy was called from her home to rest. She was preceded in death by her daughter; Toni Fernessa Reed; mother, Annie Mae Youngblood; brothers, Ollie B. Youngblood and Jerome Youngblood; brothers-in-law, Frank Ford and Rudy Ford; sister-in-law, Pearlie Jackson, aunt, Odessa Youngblood Gyden; nephews, Tony Youngblood and Anthony Youngblood and niece, Donna Youngblood-Wilson. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with: a devoted and loving companion, Henry Holton; husband, Jimmie Reed; son, Bruce Reed (Patricia), daughter, Saundra Reed-Gued; father, Rubin Youngblood; sisters, Jessie Youngblood Preston (Sam), Rubynell Youngblood (Willie), Latricia Scott; brother, Marvin Youngblood (Ida); sister-in-law, Margie Smith of Tallahassee, Fl; brothers-in-law, James Ford of Miami, Fl, Welton Reed of Crawfordville, Fl and Walton Reed of Shoppy, Fl; uncle, Edward McAdoo; aunts, Minnie McAdoo, Ida McAdoo, Luella McAdoo all of Tampa, Fl, Bertha McAdoo, Mary Liz Brown, Bernice Hill, Ennie Kellom all of Rochelle, GA, Ida Creal (Eenest) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Marcus Reed, Ciera Brooks, Kevida Reed, Erika Palmore-Vernon (Mario), Brandon Palmore, Brittany Reed, Bruchelle Reed, Gary Minnis; great grandchildren, A'zon Gued, Kelis Palmore, A'zari Gued, Jeremiah Smith and Mariah Vernon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, neighbors, and special and devoted friends Brian and Mallory Dillion, Italiano family, Holton family, Brooks family and Johnny and Lisa Johnson. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
