Mrs. Dorothy Sneed was a native of Tampa and attended the local schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton High School, class of 1949. She married an Air Force veteran, John L. Sneed, Sr, in 1956, and they moved to Nashville, TN, where she was a homemaker for several years. Once her children reached kindergarten, she pursued a nursing career and worked at Nashville General Hospital until 1979. That year she returned to Tampa to live and worked for James A. Haley Veterans Hospital until retirement. She also worked with the Foster Grandparent program.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Julia Greene; husband, John L. Sneed, Sr.; sisters, Janelle Green, Beatrice Tabor, and Carrie Green; son, John L. Sneed, Jr.; and nephew, Ronald Greene.

She leaves cherished memories to her children, Pamela Smith, Dierdre, Michael Sneed (Helen) of Nashville, TN, and Benjamin Sneed (Traci) of Nashville, TN; brother, James Greene, Sr. of Hempstead, NY; sisters-in-law, Louise Sneed  Haynes of McKenzie, TN, and Paulene Sneed of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Tiffany Williams of Tampa, FL, Keybi Sneed of Queens, NY, Kylah, Kyle, and Kyra Sneed of Tampa, FL, Michael Sneed, and Lisa Sneed of Nashville, TN, Aleya Sneed of  Los Angeles, CA, Taryn, Taylor, and Robert Sneed of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Trenton Williams; niece, Wilma Garvin, Phoebe Sneed Presson; nephew, Gordon Greene, Benji Green, Brice Tabor; great nephew, JD Garvin; great nieces, Yemi Odutula, and Julie Ann Farley, along with a host of family and friends.
