A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Taylor who passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, will be held Saturday, February 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Elder Alphonso Ammons, associate minister of Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Dorothy Taylor was born on December 3, 1938 to the late J.P. Curry and Gussie Mae Russell in Louisville, Alabama. Dorothy was a devoted member of Mt. Olive AME Church. She enjoyed cooking, being a mother to everyone, listening to gospel music, reading the bible, and she was known for having the best jokes and her slick mouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her husband, Robert L. Taylor; children, Mary Debose, Lillie Crossley, Tracia Taylor, Earnest Monroe, Chantay Davis, and Robert Taylor (Cynthia); a host of grandchildren from the, Hughes, Taylor, DeBose, Monroe, Davis, and Crossley families, Darnisha and Darnell Ammons, Tyree Emanuel, and Deja Whidbee; brothers, Joe Curry (Grace), Orlando Curry (Ruby), and Willie James Curry (Daisy); sisters, Mildred Gamble (Jorge), Barbara McCoy (Jimmy-Lee), and Cora M. Bradley (LeRoy); a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, the Curry and Russell families; friends of the family, the James family and Geneva Acree; best friend, Debra Kelly; and a close friend, Rosetta Pierce. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
