Obituary

The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Dorothy Williams, of 1503 E. Sligh Avenue, who passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009, will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 504 E. Harrison Street, with Rev. Bryant A. Fayson, pastor/officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Ann Williams was born on Dec. 27, 1946, one of ten siblings, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Lillian) VanBuren of Thibodaux, La. Where she was born and educated. She relocated to Tampa, FL over 20 years ago where she was united in marriage to Mr. David R. Williams. She was a loving, caring and giving mother of five children and one special daughter. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church under Rev. Bryant A. Fayson and remained faithful until the end. Preceding her in death was her father Walter VanBuren and her godfather Izador Davis. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: husband, David R. Williams; her devoted children, Natasha Wilford (Ronald), Catrice Bryant (Larry), Rosemary Salter (Toney), Brian Newton (Linda), Joann Williams and Shanica Lowe; grandchildren, John, Toney Jr., Anthony, Jasmine, Tyler, Ariyanna, Myric, Trinity, Nariyah and Kalese (all of Tampa); her mother Lillian J. VanBuren, Thibodaux, LA; godmother, Hazel Robinson, Labadieville, LA; sisters, Verna VanBuren (Raymond), Cynthia Sewire (Alvin), Linda Lovely (Mike), Thibodaux, LA, Sarah Moses (Marlon), New Orleans, LA and Laverne Owens, Tampa, FL; brothers, Walter VanBuren, Jr, Murphy VanBuren (Jenny), Thibodaux, LA, Charles VanBuren (Angela), Tampa, Robert VanBuren (Jennifer) and Earl VanBuren (Betty), Tampa, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to name. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 13th, from 5 - 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 - 7 p.m. The funeral cortege will arrange from 1702 Woodhaven Dr. Friends are asked to assemble at the church approximately 10:45 a.m. Saturday for the service.
