Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Earl R. Hobbs of 6115 N. 23rd, Street, who passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 will be held Saturday, February 5th, 2:00 p.m., at St. Luke A.M.E Church, 2709 N. 25th St, Rev. Ronald E. Williams, pastor, with Rev. William Taylor, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hobbs was born June 7, 1952, in Tampa, Florida. He was a member of St. Luke A.M.E Church. Earl loved his girls and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Braxton; brother, Reginald Stubbs; sister, Maybelle Braxton and brother-in-law, Lenwood Chestnut. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Hollis M. Hobbs; mother-in-law, Mary Chestnut; children, Shanan Hobbs (Kim) and husband, Samuel Dickerson and Felicia Chestnut and husband, Floyd Headen; grandchildren, Joshua Collins, Jaiden Headen, Taylor Headen and Nyla Dickerson; brothers, Edward Miller, Weston Braxton (Jackie) and Jerome Mccray (Tanda); step-brother, Earnest Braxton, Jr.; sisters, Renee Taylor (Charles), Gwendolyn Mccray and Emma Legree (Ronnie); brother-in-law, Cyrus Chestnut; sister-in-law, Rosa Mae Stubbs; and a host of nieces, nephews and other sorrowing relatives. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. for the service.
