Mr. Ernest Rodgers, the seventh child of the late Jessie and Addie Rodgers, was born on January 5, 1940, in Banks, Alabama. His siblings, Jessie Frank, Charles Henry, C.W., and Katie May each preceded him in death.

Ernest was a truck driver for more than 58 years of which he was self-employed for 44 years. He enjoyed smiling, laughing, and talking with family, friends, and strangers.

Ernest leaves to cherish his precious memories with his wife of 58 years, Verdell Rodgers; 2 sisters, Mae Lucy and Mary Frances; 5 daughters, Rita Jean, Debra, Tonya, Angie, and Deedra; 2 sons, Michael and Ernest, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousin; adopted sister, Alma Smith; 2 devoted friends, Rudolph, James, and Chester; as well as many other friends.
