Edna was born on July 29,1931, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Mckinley and Henrietta McCardy. She was also the daughter of the late Pink and Hattie Sanders. Edna was a graduate of Middleton Senior High (formerly Middleton/Don Thompson) Class of 1948. She attended Mary McLeod Bethune School, now known as Bethune Cookman University.
Our dear mother led a beautiful life of service to God and was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A genuine friend to many and a cherished member of Greater Mount Carmel AME Church. She served in many capacities as a young member. In her later years, she served as a President of Usher Board #1 and as a substitute Sunday School teacher always challenging her participants. Edna accepted Christ at an early age. She left a legacy of love, kindness, and sweet memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jennings, Sr.; brothers, Samuel, Edward (Dorothy), and Joseph McCardy.
She leaves to mourn: daughters, Clarinet Neal and Roberta White (Eddie); sons, Charles Walton (Patricia); Charles Neal, Robert Jennings, Jr. (Chaquita); sisters, Linda Shepard (Remington) and Linda McCardy; brother, William "Willie" McCardy (Jeanette); sisters-in-law, Bettye Jennings and Thelma Jennings; brother-in-law, Robert Blount Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
