Edner Rebecca
Norton
July 27, 1945 – October 22, 2022
Edner Rebecca Norton passed away on October 22, 2022, at the age of 77. She was a loving, full of humor, giving, sensitive, and straightforward person. She loved dearly her Husband of 45 years, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her sisters.
Her heart was full of joy and she loved to share it with her friends and family. Edner grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and attended Lincoln High School. She graduated from Hillsborough Community College with a degree in Liberal Arts. She became a certified nurse assistant (CNA) and retired. Edner worked at the VA Hospital, several nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private homes. Her passions included taking care of people, making ceramics, crocheting, traveling, and having fun but her main love was her family.
Edner is survived by her husband, Gerard Norton; children Benjamin Charleston, Sandra Charleston, Pamela C. Washington (Bishop Sean C. Washington, Sr.), Gerard Norton, Jr., Dr. Terri R. Norton, Terita R. Norton; grand-children, Johnny Charleston, Latrishae D. S. Thornton-Reed (Rodney Reed), Sean C. Washington, Jr., Shuntavia A.C. Washington; great-grandchildren, Saniyah A Reed, Jahmari Charleston, Rodney L. Reed III, Jahsir Charleston, Ja'Khari K. Washington, Ja'Khi T. Washington; sisters, Barbara McGill, Rose Carney, Carolyn James, Emma Carney; aunt Willie B. Horton; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; special friend, Fannie Burney; and a host of loved ones, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Edner adored her great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. The circle of many will feel her absence at every birthday, holiday, trip, and missed phone call. This passing will leave a big hole in our hearts, one that she would want us to fill with love and laughter and to try to make others happy too.
