Edward was born on June 24, 1982, in Tampa, Florida to Edward Carris Aikens, Sr., and Linda Simmons Aikens. He enjoyed riding the city bus, looking at maps, traveling to different cities and states, computers and he was very independent, never wanting to rely on anyone he could do for himself. Edward was employed with the Ronald McDonald House as a sun pass technician.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dexter and Liller Mae Aikens and Julia Mae Simmons; uncles, Herman Tim, Lewis, Leroy and Charlie Aikens and aunt, Gwendolyn Powell.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted and loving parents, father, Edward Carris Aikens, Sr., and mother, Linda Simmons Aikens; sister, Fenneica Simmons; grandfather, John Earl Simmons, Sr. (Rebecca); aunts, Betty Jo and Shirley Aikens, Bridgett and Cynthia Simmons; uncles, Henry Aikens, Thomas Aikens (Yvonne) and Ronald Simmons; a host of cousins to include, Derrick Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
