A Homegoing Celebration for Dr. Edward C. Bruton age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, comfortably in his bed surrounded by family and his caretaker, Lilian Cotto. will be held Saturday, August 22nd, 12:00 p.m. in the Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Thomas F. Coover Chaplain, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born December 23, 1937 to Elliot and Rosa Bruton. A graduate of Middleton High School Class of 1957 and a Doctor of Philosophy with a major in Education from Pacific Western University. After moving to Manhattan, New York he had an outstanding career as a Spanish and French educator.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elliott C. Bruton Sr., and mother, Rosa H. Bruton; brothers, Earnest Bolton, Ira Bruton, Elliott C. Bruton Jr. and Ronnie O'Neal; sisters, Lois Hardy and Gwendolyn P. Brown-Johnson.He is survived by and loved by his sisters, Inez K. Bush and Ruth Lockett; brothers, Alphonso Bruton and Nathaniel O'Neal Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, August 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends during the visitation. We are following the CDC guidelines.
