Homegoing services for Mr.Edward Washington Sr. of Tampa who passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011, will be held on Saturday, October 1st, 11:00 a.m., New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, 1605 N. Nebraska Avenue, Elder Theodis Lane , Officiating. Internment will be in Florida National Cemetery. Edward Washington Sr. affectionately called, "Man" and, "Seymour", was born January 30, 1940 in Bessemer, AL to the union of Tony and Fannie Washington. He attended the local schools of Jefferson County and Hillsborough County after the relocation of the family. He served in the US Army for three years. He was a former member of New Salems Primitive Baptist Church. In 1963 he was married to Mary Stevens and to this union 3 children were born; Mischell, Edward and mark. He was employed by Harris Paint Company for several years. As he was preparing for a career with the Postal Service , he was hired as a mail sorter and shortly thereafter, he became a supervisor. In preparing to advance further in the Postal Services, he attended Hillsborough Community College. During this time he has a traumatic life changing experience. He saw the hand of God appear unto him, and at that very moment he accepted Christ into his life. After relocating to different Postal Services in Florida, he became Postmaster in Boca Raton, FL in 1984. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and meeting people. He resided at Mount Royal Towers in Birmingham, AL, engaging in and enjoying many activities offered to retirees. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Anderson, and Willie james Glen. He leaves to cherish everlasting memories of him: 1 daughter, Mischell Washington, 2 sons, Edward Washington(Trienicia) and Mark Washington. Grandchildren, Ashley Jones(Paul)US Navy/Virginia Beach, VA., Christopher Wsahington(Shquondaie)US Marine Corps/San Diego, CA., Courtney Brantley, Kendall Brantley and Arneicia Washington. 5 sisters, Shirley Japal(Frederick Sr.)Birmingham AL, Maggie Hagins(Leroy), Mary Collins(Jewel), Martha Peace, Ethel Ray Hagins(James) Ocala FL. 2 Brothers, Tom Washington(Tina) and Gary Washington. A loving and devoted niece and her husband, Evon Japal and Monroe Hargrove, Birmingham, AL, life time friends, Samuel Hunter, and Perry Little, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
