Obituary

A Homegoing wake service will be held for Mr. Edward James Streater, Jr. of Tampa, who passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, will be held on Friday, October 25th, 6:00 p.m., Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Apostle Darnell Wilson, officiating. Interment will follow. Edward was born October 10, 1950 in Tampa, Florida to Edward and Martha Sampson. He was educated in Hillsborough County school system. He graduated from H.W. Blake, class of 1969. He also attended Hillsborough Community College. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force and toured 3 times before being honorably discharged in 1981. He then moved from Lubbock, Texas to Houston, Texas, where he worked as an airplane and helicopter mechanic with Dyco CNA, Int'l for 30 years until he became ill. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward James Streater, Sr., step-father, L.C. Jackson, grandparents, Annie "grammi" Sampson, Oscar and Willie Laura Streater and brothers, Willie "Trulie" Streater and Jimmy Jackson. He leaves to cherish his loving memories with his devoted mother, Martha Sampson Jackson; brother, Charles Jackson; sisters, Doretha Jackson (Ola) and Annette Jackson (Clyde); aunts, W. Carolyn Anderson of California and Emridge Streater; ex-sister-in-law, Demtra Jackson; several nieces, special nieces, Mikaela and Miciah Parks; several nephews, special nephew, Michael Parks; co-workers from Dyco CNA, Int'l, Houston, TX and the NASA Program; and other sorrowing relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th from 5 to 7 p.m. The wake service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to come to the funeral home on Friday evening.
