Obituary

Elder Joe Lewis Lock, a devoted man of faith, family, and service, transitioned peacefully from this life, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, ministry, and hard work. A pillar in his community, Elder Lock, alongside his brother Bishop Wilbert Lock, faithfully founded Immanuel Holiness Church, where they ministered and served God's people with unwavering dedication. His passion for singing gospel songs and lifting up the name of Jesus was evident to all who knew him. A proud man whose favorite color was red, Elder Lock found joy in simple pleasures—especially his many cherished trips to the flea market. His warm spirit, humility, and laughter touched countless lives over the years. Elder Lock had a long and respected career with CSX as both a Carman and a Welder, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Georgia; daughter, Tammy Lock- Holder; brothers, Edward Lock, Bishop Wilbert Lock, Hayward Lock and David Lock; sister, Elizabeth Brown.

He leaves to celebrate his memory his loving children, Theresa Lock-Briseneau, Lawanda B. Lock, and Ashley Jenkins; nieces, Regina Lock-DePass (Anthony) and Sholanda Lock; nephews, Wilbert E. Lock, Kenneth Lock, Johnathan Lock, Michael Brown, and Jerell Brown  He is also remembered with love by his grandchildren: Algeren Lock (Desiree), Jasmine Holder, Jmyia Holder, Abraham Briseneau, Genesis Briseneau, Joseph Lock Jr., Destiny Jenkins, My'jayla Jenkins, Trayonor Jenkins, and his great-grandchildren: Alianna Lock, Algeren Lock Jr., Adrian Lock, Jai'viyonna Green, Wisdom Holder, Heaven Holder, Legend Harrell, Alijah Briseneau, Abraham Briseneau Jr., Anahri Cobb, Jonas Jenkins, Myssiah Jenkins, and Juloni Cobb; along with a host of step-children, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory. Elder Joe Lewis Lock's life was a testimony of faith, perseverance, and love. His influence will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue through the generations he leaves behind.
