Homegoing services for Elder Leroy Lockett of Tampa, who passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010, will be held Saturday, December 11th, 12:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Elder Leroy Lockett was born November 29, 1924 in Tampa, Florida to the late Viola Bing Lockett and John Lockett. His mother nicknamed him Roy. He accepted Christ early in life. He completed school in Tampa, Florida. He married Mary Shaulders and to this union was born a son, Leandrew. After a brief marriage Leroy relocated to Newark, New Jersey. He worked many years as a male nurse at Alexian Brothers Hospital and Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Leroy Lockett became Elder Lockett after being called to the ministry, where he plunged 100% into spreading God's word. He established several apostolic churches and became a shepard for many. While in New Jersey he married Margaret and later relocated back to Tampa, Florida. This was a brief marriage .In later years Elder Lockett spent most of his time during God's work, telling men and women about the goodness of the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory, son Leandrew Lockett, grandchildren Lenora Hunter (Antonio), Eddie Brown , Yvonne Wilson (Vincent), Harry Brown, Leandrew Lockett Jr., Valerie Lockett, great-grandchildren, Sabrina Brown, LaShonda Brown, Ashley Lockett, TaLayna Brown, Vineece Wilson, Brittney Lockett, Jabriel Brown , Anayyah Lockett, great great grandchild Khalil Brown, brother Bill Lockett all from New Jersey, special friends Alberta, Rev. J. Franklin Brown, mother of the church Claudia Washington, a host of nieces and nephews and other friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010.
