Ella was born on April 21, 1936 in Tampa, Florida to George Mitchell and Hattie Bell Huff. She enjoyed her career as an educator and administrator in the Hillsborough County Public School System, and she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph B. Martin, Sr.; son, Rudolph B. Martin, Jr.; and brother, Stanley H. Nelson.

She leaves precious memories with children, Alisia S. Martin (Dwelvin) and Duane E. Martin (Ana); grandchildren, Jade E. Martin, Adela A. Martin, Ilana M. Simmons and Laila R. Simmons; nieces, Sarah Delores Nelson and Tiffany Nelson; nephews, Clifford Ghee; cousins, Bishop Michael Lewis, John Lewis, and the family of the late George Lewis, the Bentley and Taylor Families; Mrs. Willie Mae Burney ("Sister"); brother-in-law, Marvin Martin and family; sister-in-law, Pamela and family; Ms. Regina Burney; Mrs. Jackie Harris and family; the Simmons family; the family of the late Frank Martin, John L. Martin, Jr., Minnie L. Cato, Theresa Austin; and Ollie Lee; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Les Miller and family, Mrs. Barbara Johnson and family, Mrs. Ruby Brown, Leona Bryant and family, the Moragne family, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Jenkins and family; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
