Obituary

Ms. Ella Mae Samuels was born in Florence, South Carolina, on October 17, 1932, to Willie and Lear McFadden. She later moved to Harlem, NY, in 1985 and relocated to Tampa, FL, in 2005. Ella was the third daughter of ten children: Elizabeth, Janie, Betty Jean, Jimmy, T.J., Roy, Walker Thomas, Alex, and Kelly. They all looked forward to family gatherings—whether Thanksgiving, Easter, or birthdays—because Ella's food was more than just a meal; it was an expression of her love. Every dish she prepared was seasoned with care, warmth, and generosity.

She delighted in opening her home and her kitchen to anyone who needed an extra measure of kindness. Ella spent many years opening her home to foster children, treating each one with the same dignity, gentle discipline, and love that she gave to her own family. She was a very social and welcoming person, known for making everyone around her feel comfortable and cared for.

Ella Mae Samuels was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lear McFadden; and her son, Ronnie.

Ella is survived by her children, Hazel (James), David, and Donald. She is lovingly remembered by 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She will be deeply missed, but her family is profoundly grateful for the time, love, and wisdom she shared with them. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion will continue to live on in all whose lives she touched.
